What This Skill Does
GSD (Get Shit Done) is a structured project workflow that takes a project from idea to execution through questioning, parallel research, requirements scoping, roadmap creation, and phase-based execution. It uses an orchestrator and subagent pattern, spawning 4 parallel researchers and running verification loops before committing to execution. Commands cover the full lifecycle from initialization through milestone archival.
Combines the full plan-research-execute-verify cycle in one workflow rather than requiring separate tools or manual handoffs between planning and execution.
When to use it
- Starting a new software project with no existing structure
- Breaking a large feature into researched, verified execution phases
- Resuming a paused project with full context restored
- Running a quick ad-hoc task without full planning overhead
- Debugging a recurring issue with persistent state across sessions
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: /gsd new-project
- 1Asks deep contextual questions to understand the project goal and constraints
- 2Spawns 4 parallel researchers to investigate stack, features, architecture, and pitfalls
- 3Synthesizes research output into a SUMMARY.md
- 4Guides user through feature selection to define v1 requirements
- 5Generates a phased roadmap derived from requirements and saves PROJECT.md and REQUIREMENTS.md
A .planning/ directory with PROJECT.md, REQUIREMENTS.md, research summaries, and a phased roadmap ready for /gsd plan-phase
