Patch: OpenClaw allowed media paths docs.
What This Skill Does
Fetches wind rose and current or recent wind data (speed and direction) for any location by latitude and longitude. Uses the Open-Meteo API, which requires no key or account. Provides site wind climate data as input for CFD or wind-tunnel studies; does not run simulations itself.
Open-Meteo requires no API key or account, so wind data for any global coordinate is available immediately without signup or setup.
When to use it
- Check current wind speed and direction at a construction site
- Generate a wind rose diagram for a proposed building location
- Get 30-day wind history for a coastal development project
- Prepare wind climate input data before a CFD analysis
- Assess prevailing wind direction before placing rooftop equipment
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Give me a wind rose for Shanghai for the last 30 days
- 1Run wind_rose.py with --lat 31.23 --lon 121.47 --days 30
- 2Save the output PNG to an allowed path such as ~/.openclaw/media/wind_rose.png
- 3Send the PNG to the user via the OpenClaw media tool
- 4Summarize the dominant wind direction and speed distribution from the plot
