What This Skill Does
Takes music links from platforms like YouTube, Spotify, Bandcamp, and Beatport and downloads them as MP3 320k files. Searches sources in priority order, always preferring extended mixes over radio edits. Returns purchase links for paid platforms and downloads directly from free ones.
The source priority system combined with automatic extended-mix preference means you get the best available version without manually checking each platform.
When to use it
- Downloading a DJ set tracklist from mixed platform links
- Getting extended mixes instead of radio edits automatically
- Batch downloading tracks for an upcoming set
- Finding purchase links for tracks on paid platforms
- Cleaning up messy yt-dlp filenames to Artist - Title format
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Download this Spotify track link as MP3
- 1Extract artist and title from the link using yt-dlp --dump-json
- 2Search Bandcamp for an extended mix version
- 3Search Beatport for an extended mix version
- 4Fall back to spotdl for a 320k MP3 download
- 5Tag the file with artist, title, album, and cover art
Artist - Title (Extended Mix).mp3 saved to ~/Downloads/ with embedded metadata
