What This Skill Does
Automates the full lifecycle of Instant-backed Next.js apps: scaffolding, pushing to GitHub, and deploying to Vercel. Handles both creating new apps and editing existing ones. All projects are stored under ~/apps.
Combines Instant initialization, Next.js scaffolding, GitHub repo creation, and Vercel deployment into one sequential workflow instead of running each tool separately.
When to use it
- Scaffold a new Instant-backed Next.js app from scratch
- Push a bug fix to an existing app and redeploy to production
- Create a private GitHub repo for a new project
- Add a feature to a running app and push to main
- Set up Vercel environment variables after a first deploy
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Build me a new todo app called my-todos
- 1Run npx instant-cli init-without-files to obtain an appId and token
- 2Run npx create-instant-app my-todos --next --codex --app <appId> --token <token> inside ~/apps
- 3Initialize git and create a private GitHub repo with gh repo create
- 4Link the project to Vercel and deploy with vercel --prod
- 5Confirm the live URL and push any initial commits to main
