Setup & Installation
Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:
What This Skill Does
Switches OpenClaw between four life modes: Work/Focus, Personal, Creative, and Do Not Disturb. Each mode adjusts notification filtering, loads the relevant memory context, and changes the AI response style. Modes activate via natural language phrases or calendar event titles, and auto-restore when the session ends.
Unlike a simple do-not-disturb toggle, it also shifts the AI memory focus and response style to match the current context, so the assistant behaves differently in work mode versus personal time.
When to use it
- Blocking distractions before a deep work session
- Pausing work notifications when clocking off for the evening
- Entering creative mode for a writing or design session
- Enabling full silence during a blocked calendar period
- Getting a catch-up summary of missed messages after DND ends
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Switch to focus mode for 2 hours
- 1Identifies 'focus mode' as the Work/Focus trigger phrase
- 2Saves current memory state to pre-switch-state.json
- 3Loads work profile from modes/work.md and applies notification mute rules
- 4Sets a 2-hour auto-restore timer
- 5Confirms the switch with a task summary and restore time
Focus mode on. Notifications muted. Here's what needs your attention: [task summary]. I'll restore at [time].
