What This Skill Does
Birdfolio logs bird sightings from photos into a personal life list. Users send a bird photo via Telegram, the skill identifies the species, classifies it by rarity for the user's region, and sends back a trading card. Sightings are stored in a hosted PostgreSQL database with checklist progress tracked per region.
Combines photo identification, regional rarity lookup, sighting logging, and visual card generation in a single Telegram message exchange, replacing separate apps for each step.
When to use it
- Identifying a bird photographed in your backyard
- Building a life list during a birding outing
- Checking regional checklist progress across rarity tiers
- Looking up facts about a species without logging a sighting
- Finding your rarest ever bird sighting in your life list
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User sends: a photo of a bird seen in their yard
- 1Analyzes the photo with Vision to identify species, scientific name, and confidence level
- 2Searches You.com for regional frequency data and assigns a rarity tier
- 3Retrieves a fun fact about the species from You.com
- 4Logs the sighting to the life list and updates the regional checklist
- 5Generates a trading card with the user's photo embedded, uploads it, and sends it via Telegram
