Setup & Installation

openclaw skills install @tradmangh/token-monitor

Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:

npx clawhub install token-monitor

What This Skill Does

Monitors OpenClaw token and quota usage across all configured providers and quota types. Alerts when any quota drops below a configurable threshold (default 20%) and sends recovery notifications when quotas come back up. State is stored locally to prevent duplicate alerts between runs.

Persists alert state between runs so repeated low-quota conditions don't flood notifications, covering all providers and quota types in a single script.

When to use it

  • Checking remaining API quota before starting a long coding session
  • Getting alerted when a provider's daily limit is nearly exhausted
  • Monitoring multiple quota types across all configured providers at once
  • Running automated hourly quota checks via cron without manual polling
  • Tracking quota recovery after a billing period resets

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: 'Alert me when any quota drops below 10%'

AGENT
  1. 1Install the skill via clawhub install token-monitor
  2. 2Run check-quota.sh --threshold 10 manually to verify it reads current quota data
  3. 3Add an automated cron job with openclaw cron add scheduled every 30 minutes
  4. 4Script runs openclaw models status, compares results against the local state file, and triggers an alert for any quota below 10%
  5. 5State file is updated so the same alert is not repeated on the next run
OUTPUT

⚠️ Model Quota Alert (<10%): • openai-codex Day: 8% left
