Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:
What This Skill Does
Manages OpenClaw's active persona by reading and writing a SOUL.md file. Supports creating new character personas through web research, loading saved ones from a local library, and switching between them on demand.
Automates character research and structured persona generation rather than requiring users to manually write detailed personality files.
When to use it
- Switching OpenClaw into a fictional character for roleplay
- Building a reusable library of saved character personas
- Auto-generating a new persona by researching a character online
- Listing all souls available in the local library
- Saving the current active persona under a custom name
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Become Sherlock Holmes
- 1Checks ~/clawd/souls/ for an existing sherlock_holmes.md file
- 2Searches the web for Sherlock Holmes backstory, speech patterns, and mannerisms
- 3Generates a structured soul file using the Soul Template format
- 4Saves the file to ~/clawd/souls/sherlock_holmes.md and overwrites ~/clawd/SOUL.md
- 5Announces the switch in Holmes's voice
OpenClaw responds as Sherlock Holmes with matching tone, vocabulary, and interaction style
